Cantina Tizzano
San Giorgio a Cremano · Province of Napoli · Campania
Since 1930, Cantina Tizzano has cultivated the Vesuvian slopes in San Giorgio a Cremano, now in its third family generation. Its work spans three distinct protected zones: from the circumscribed area of Catalanesca del Monte Somma IGT, just nine municipalities, to the more extensive Pompeiano IGT with ninety-two municipalities, up to the Vesuvio DOC denomination. On these volcanic soils, Catalanesca bianca, Piedirosso, and Aglianico thrive, translated into white, rosé, and red wines regulated by their respective disciplinari. The thread that binds these three origins is direct agronomic control: personally overseeing the vineyard is what allows the same character to be found in bottles from different vintages. The winery combines long-standing Campanian grape varieties with a modern approach, designed to bring Vesuvian wines to the everyday table rather than reserving them for special occasions. The result is a range that tells the story of the volcano from multiple angles, from fresh white to structured red. Visitors to the winery can explore all three denominations in a single tasting, reading Vesuvius through its grapes.
